Hello everyone,
So this idea popped into my head yesterday of having a blog about issues, ideas or things that are faced by brown girls. It's also a good way for me to vent out problems that we (as a collective group) may face, especially living outside of our "home land". From daily life activities to school to the thought of marriage, we are forever huddled around people, such as parents, siblings, friends, uncles, aunts, cousins...the list is never ending. If a brown girl were to actually sit and write the amount of people that they know, or God forbid have even met, and the list will most likely be endless.
There are obviously positive aspects, such as always having some one around to talk to you when you're feeling low, dressing up for many occasions (but it can be a task if it's the same crowd over and over again), going out (dinners, theaters, clubs), and most importantly (for our parents),to be aware of knowing who's who so that you can get married in a "well off" family". As reputation is "key", we must all be at our best when talking to people, especially at social gatherings. There are many topics that will be discussed in this blog, and I just hope I get to most of them and not desert this blog after a week :p. I hope you like what you've read so far, please leave a comment :D
